Privacy Policy
This policy covers FOOM, FOOM Athlete, FOOM Coach, Hill Reps (formerly Second and Hill Run), the foom.fitness website, and the backend services that power them. It is written to match the product as it works today, not as marketing copy.
1. Who we are
FOOM is operated by Algorithmic Research Group. For support or privacy requests, email support@foom.fitness.
Here for Hill Reps? Read the Hill Reps privacy section. The account, coaching, nutrition, and AI features described elsewhere belong to the other FOOM apps, not Hill Reps.
2. Data we collect
The following account-based data applies to FOOM Athlete and FOOM Coach where those features are used. Hill Reps has different practices, described below.
- Account information such as your email address and name.
- User identifiers needed to keep your account, coach-athlete relationship, and app data tied together.
- Meal photos and meal records including captions, macros, and timestamps.
- Nutrition and body-profile information such as age, sex, height, weight, goals, calorie and macro targets.
- Workout and fitness data such as planned sessions, logged sessions, completion status, and related notes.
- Push notification tokens issued by Apple so we can send notifications you have opted into.
- Support and privacy requests you send to us by email.
- Subscription records for coach purchases, managed through Apple's in-app subscription systems.
- Service and security metadata such as request time, route, status or error code, request identifier, and account-linked notification delivery state.
Hill Reps privacy
Hill Reps is a separate hill-repeat recorder for iPhone and Apple Watch. It does not create a FOOM account or send run records to FOOM-operated servers. It has no advertising, analytics SDKs, AI processing, or coach sharing. The account and meal-photo services elsewhere in this policy do not apply to Hill Reps.
Location, elevation, and motion
During an active run, Hill Reps uses device location, including precise location when permitted, to record your route, measure distance, and help identify hill repeats. It stores workout times, route coordinates, available altitude and accuracy readings, elevation samples, hill counts, splits, and any inclusion or exclusion decisions you make. Location recording can continue when the screen is locked during an active run.
With Motion & Fitness permission and supported hardware, Hill Reps uses relative-altitude readings from the device's barometer to improve elevation measurements. It may request motion-activity access to enable that permission; activity classifications are not kept as part of your run history. These signals are processed on your device. You can use GPS-only recording if motion access is unavailable or declined.
Local storage, iCloud, and your paired devices
Active run recovery checkpoints and completed runs are stored on your device. When iCloud is available, completed run records and deletion markers sync through your private CloudKit database under your Apple account. A paired iPhone and Apple Watch can also exchange completed runs, record identifiers, revisions, and deletion markers through Apple's WatchConnectivity service. We cannot access those records through FOOM's servers. Apple operates these services under its own privacy terms.
Hill Reps separates cached histories by iCloud account. Switching accounts or signing out does not erase the earlier account's local records; they can reappear when that account is used again. Apple Maps is used to display routes and may process map-service requests under Apple's privacy terms.
Apple Health
With your permission, Hill Reps on Apple Watch uses a HealthKit workout session for background recording and saves the completed workout to Apple Health. Distance, route, and elevation details may be included where available and permitted. Hill Reps does not request read access to your existing Health records, and does not send Health data to FOOM-operated servers, advertisers, or AI providers.
Your controls and deletion
Change Location, Precise Location, Motion & Fitness, and Health permissions in your device settings. Hill Reps' Run setup screen explains how to find them. Withdrawing permission may reduce accuracy or prevent recording; it does not automatically erase earlier records.
Delete a run from its detail screen to remove it from Hill Reps. Deletions propagate to iCloud and paired devices when connectivity is available. Deletion markers are retained to prevent old copies from returning. Any workout already saved to Apple Health remains there and must be managed separately in Health. Removing the app alone is not a request to delete its iCloud history: a reinstall may restore synced runs. Delete unwanted runs in the app and allow sync to finish before uninstalling.
If you email support, we receive the address, message, and any screenshots or other information you choose to send. Avoid sending route or Health information you do not want to share. Contact support@foom.fitness with privacy questions.
3. How we use data
- To authenticate you and keep your account working.
- To sync plans, meals, and progress between coach and athlete.
- To deliver push notifications.
- To process subscriptions and restore coach access where payment applies.
- To respond to support, privacy, and account-deletion requests.
4. AI meal processing and permission
Before the first AI meal request, Foom Athlete identifies Anthropic as the third-party AI provider, explains whether the selected meal photo or typed description will be shared, and asks for permission. Nothing is sent for AI processing unless the athlete chooses Allow AI estimate. Permission can be withdrawn later from the app's Account screen, and nutrition can always be entered manually.
After permission is granted and the athlete actively requests an estimate, the selected photo or description is sent to a Cloudflare Worker we operate and then forwarded to Anthropic's API for nutrition estimation. The result is returned to the app so the athlete can review it before saving. If you save the meal with a photo, the photo is stored with your account. If you do not save it, it is not kept as a meal record.
5. Service providers
Supabase, Cloudflare Workers, and Anthropic below support the account-based FOOM apps, not Hill Reps run recording. Hill Reps uses the Apple services described above.
- Supabase for authentication, database storage, and file storage.
- Cloudflare Workers for backend request handling such as meal analysis and push delivery helpers.
- Anthropic for meal-photo or meal-description nutrition estimation after athlete permission.
- Apple for App Store purchases and push notification delivery.
The website is hosted on GitHub Pages and loads fonts from Google Fonts. Those providers receive ordinary web requests, such as your IP address and browser information, to deliver the site and fonts.
6. Sharing and historical records
The connected coach and athlete can see shared workout, meal, nutrition, and progress records under the relationship controls. FOOM no longer offers in-app messaging. Any messaging records created during pre-release testing are unavailable in the current product and retained only until applicable account deletion or controlled cleanup, subject to backup and legal exceptions.
7. Tracking and advertising
We do not sell personal information and we do not use app data to track you across other companies' apps or websites. FOOM is not an advertising business.
8. Your choices and rights
- Access or export: email support@foom.fitness.
- Deletion: use the in-app delete-account flow or email us.
- Correction: update what you can in-app, or contact us for anything you cannot change yourself.
- Notifications: manage them in iPhone Settings at any time.
- AI meal analysis: decline the first-use request, enter nutrition manually, or withdraw permission from Account.
- Hill Reps run records: use the run detail screen to delete a run. See Hill Reps privacy for iCloud, paired-device, and Apple Health deletion details.
9. Retention
We keep account data for as long as the account is active and as needed to run the service, resolve disputes, enforce our terms, and satisfy legal obligations. When you delete your account, we delete operational account data from the app systems subject to standard backup and legal-retention limits.
Hill Reps keeps local and iCloud run history until you delete it, with deletion markers retained to prevent reintroduction by offline devices. Removing local app data does not remove iCloud or Apple Health copies. FOOM does not receive or retain your route history unless you deliberately include it in a support request.
10. Age eligibility
Foom Athlete and Foom Coach are currently offered only to adults age 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information through those services from anyone under 18. Coaches may not invite or manage minors through those services. If you believe a minor has used them, contact us and we will investigate and delete the account.
11. Changes
We will update this page when data practices change and we will update the effective date above. Material changes will be communicated in-product or by email when appropriate.
